Miss Ristor

My dear Drew,

20

Colonial Office,

Downing Street,

S.V.1.

26th October, 1945.

Thank you for sending me the extract from Owen-Hughes letter of 9th October. From the

information I am getting they seem to be working like slaves and doing as well as could possibly be expected.

But I am frankly angered by the talk of "This Puppet Government

8 we call it". Several of the leading liberated internees told me of this style which had been applied by the Civil Affairs party to the emergency administration which Gimson had established from Stanley Camp before the fleet arrived. Of all unfortun: te expressions in the circumstances this seems to be the worst und if meɛnt us a joke it is an exceedingly bad one and could

hardly have been expected to appeal to the Stanley personnel. I hope

neither

Colonel F.G. Drew, OBE.
